Many temporary residents find themselves in situations where they don’t get permanent residence in Canada before the expiry of their status as a worker here. In many of these cases, the LMIA is your last option. I am an employer and I have a worker who I would like to stay in Canada to continue working for me. If I sponsor them for an LMIA are they able to work for another company?

The short answer is no. An LMIA work permit is a closed work permit and the worker is bound to work for you for the duration of the work permit (normally 2-3 years). This being said, when/if the worker gets permanent residence in Canada and no longer requires the work permit, then there is no way to compel them to continue working for you.
