Do you have a job offer from a Canadian employer? Or maybe you're already working in Canada on a temporary basis and would like to apply for permanent residency. If so, then you may be eligible for a permanent  residence or a work permit as a skilled worker.

There are a few types of skilled worker visas, and some are pathways to permanent residence while others are pathways to a work permit, with other options in the future. Some of the federal permanent resident programs include the Federal Skilled Worker Class and the Federal Skilled Trade Class.  Otherwise, you may be eligible for a provincial nominee program with a job offer in a particular province of Canada.

To be eligible for either of these visas, you must meet certain requirements with regards to your work experience, qualifications, and job title.

Requirements for a Federal Skilled Worker Class Visa

To qualify for a Federal Skilled Worker Class visa, you must have at least one year of full-time work experience in a position that is classified as Skill Level 0, A, or B on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) list. This experience, may be completed outside or inside of Canada

In addition to meeting the work experience requirement, you must also prove that you have the appropriate qualifications for the position. This can be done by providing either an educational credential assessment or a copy of your certificate or diploma. In some cases as well, reference letters, job contracts and other employment verification documents can be used to meet this requirement.

This program uses a point system and is managed through express entry. As such, there are language requirements based on the occupation that you are using as your main experience to show that you meet the work experience requirements. They will also consider previous studies and other ties (work/family) to Canada and determine your eligibility.

Requirements for a Federal Skilled Trade Class Visa

The requirements for a Federal Skilled Trade Class visa are similar to those of the Federal Skilled Worker Class visa; however, there are some key differences.

First and foremost, the Federal Skilled Trade Class visa is reserved for those with technical or trade occupations such as carpenters, electricians, chefs, and plumbers. To be eligible for this visa, you must have at least two years of full-time work experience in your occupation.

Secondly, unlike the Federal Skilled Worker Class visa which requires only one year of work experience, the Federal Skilled Trade Class visa requires that you have a job offer in Canada or a certificate of qualification to show that you are eligible to practice your trade in Canada

The Provincial Nominee Program

PNP, is a Canadian visa program that allows provinces to nominate individuals for permanent residency.

Many provinces have their own PNP programs, which are tailored to the specific needs of each province.

The PNP is a great option for people who want to work in a specific province and who meet the eligibility criteria for that province. For example, some provinces may require applicants to have a certain amount of work experience or education. There are over 80 unique provincial programs, so you may want to consider speaking with a professional to determine which programs best fit your unique profile.

To apply for some of the PNPs, individuals must first create an online Express Entry profile and be invited to apply by a province. Once an application is submitted, the province will review it and decide whether or not to nominate the applicant for permanent residency.

If an applicant is nominated, they will then be able to apply for permanent residency through Express Entry. The PNP is a great way for people to immigrate to Canada and start a new life in a beautiful country.

The skilled worker visa pathways are a great way to live and work in Canada permanently. There are many types of visas available: including under the Federal Skilled Worker Class and the Federal Skilled Trade Class.

To be eligible for either of these visas, you must meet certain requirements with regard to your work experience and qualifications. If you believe that you meet all of the requirements for either type of skilled worker visa, then follow the instructions on how to apply found on Bienvenido Immigration’s website.
